The day was February 17, 2019 almost exactly one year ago. My girlfriend and I came to the conclusion that we wanted to go on a journey, that journey was navigating the Duabi Mall, which is the fourth largest mall in the world. The mall was constructed by Emaar Properties in 2008, it contains four floors of enticing stores and restaurants. We were picked up early in the day because we knew it would take us the whole day and maybe more to explore this monstrosity. The Dubai Mall also has its own Aquarium, of course we had to go and journey this underwater realm. After exploring Neptune’s caves we encountered the classic girlfriend situation.
Typo a store that will be imprinted in my skull, was a very niche office supply store. That happen to of been around the aquarium, where we do not know. But we ventured into the store after our tour. Sam (my girlfriend) said”Oh my gosh it’s TYPO”, acting like I’ve heard of this place. She found a phone case that caught her eye and she kept asking me, “Jacob do you think I should get it?”, and of course I said yes get the case. She didn’t buy the case. Two hours passed, Sam then mentioned “Hey remember that phone case? I want to go back and buy it!” So then the real adventure happened, we looked for this small office store for almost two hours! I’m not kidding, we couldn’t find it and even with the help of interactive maps, the place didn’t exist. I even went to the Q&A desk to find this rinky dink store, they couldn’t even find it.
With all the stores and wonders of this Mall we were stuck looking for this store. I was not happy but I knew just having this little phone case will mean to the world to her. Because every time she would use her phone she will remember the moments we had in Dubai. Everyday it would remind her and even myself when I see it. Finally we found the store, she bought the case right away! Till this day Sam has yet to take off the phone case, we make a joke that the next phone case has to be from our next trip to Dubai. It feels more like an inside joke because we took time looking for a phone case rather than viewing all the stores and activities we could do in the mall. But on our last free day we went again and explored the fashion capital of the world! With the tallest building and most wonderful fountain I’ve ever seen. If you ever get a chance or the ability to travel I recommend you go and take that step, you learn from different cultures and explore tastes you’ve never had. Take that gamble.
